The two-level roundabout in Haderslev, Denmark

Roundabout separated on two levels for bicycles and motor vehicles.

On my bikepacking tour in the summer of 2024, I cycled from Haderslev towards Aabenraa through this two-level roundabout. This concept has already set a precedent in Denmark, and subways of cycle paths in general are almost the norm here.

The obvious advantages are improved road safety and traffic flow, and the two-level roundabout also saves space. I have tried to find public information about this project, unfortunately without success. For the Danes, this is one of many projects that improve road safety for cyclists - no need to brag. I hope that this concept will also catch on in other countries.
